How to program a Honda Remote? Easy step by step instructions:
This procedure works for most Honda remotes and Honda remote head keys from 1998 - 2012. Please be advised this procedure only programs the keyless entry remote, it does not program the transponder chip to start the car. The key programming must be done with diagnostic programming tools by a locksmith or at your local Honda dealer.
Step 1: Put key in ignition and turn to on position (two clicks to the right before start position).
Step 2: Press any button on remote
Step 3: Turn key back to off position (two clicks back) then turn key back to the on position (two clicks forward).
Step 4: Press any button on the remote
Step 5: Turn key back to off position (two clicks back) then turn key back to the on position (two clicks forward).
Step 6: Press any button on the remote
Step 7: Turn key back to off position (two clicks back) then turn key back to the on position (two clicks forward).
Step 8: Press any button on the remote. The door locks should now cycle (go up and down, although usually they barley move but you should here a little noise coming from the door locks. The car is now in programming mode and ready to learn the remotes.
Step 9: Press any button on the first remote you wish to program. The doors should now cycle (go up and down). This means the the remote is successfully programmed. Press any button on the next remote you wish to program. The doors should now cycle again accepting the next remote. If the doors do not cycle then the remote is not accepted.
Step 10: Take the key out of the ignition and test the remotes.
