Can restricted keyway locks be picked or duplicated at Home Depot or Lowes?
Restricted keyways cannot be picked and cannot be duplicated at bigbox stores such as Home Depot or Lowes. Restricted Keyways are designed so that only a specific locksmith who originated the key can duplicate the key. This is to prevent unauthorized duplication of keys. In order to get your restricted key duplicated you must show ID and be on the keyways authorized user card list.
How do restricted keyways work?
Restricted keyways are designed specifically to you. We install a specific restricted keyway in your lock and those keys can can only be duplicated by us or the licensed locksmith you get the locks from. These restricted keys cannot be duplicated at any other hardware store or big box store. Once your locks are keyed we will give you a number of keys you request. You then give the keys out to your employees and require them to return them when they leave the company.
